Sometimes you need the extra eye

Sometimes you need the extra eye…

Hello there, it is the beginning of a new week, and I am excited about writing this post. So over the weekend, I had this feeling that I needed to change something in my life, my approach and outlook to things basically. But I had never really considered it to mean so much until a close friend of mine pointed my attention to it. She said ”Wunmi, sometimes you need the extra eye’‘.

You know as we humans can be, when she said that, I was a bit offended, I never really had anyone complain about that part of me, so I was taken aback by her words. But as I lay to sleep that day, her words kept taunting me, and so I owned up…

So what if she was right?

After doing a lot of self-evaluation, I realised that indeed she was. I had always gone about acting the same way, and thinking that everything was fine until my dear friend called my attention to this area of my life. And so, as someone who preaches a lot on self-improvement, I picked up my phone and called my friend, owning up to how I had reacted earlier that day, and I also apologised for my behaviour. I know for sure that I didn’t mean harm by how I behaved, I just never knew I had to act better, and thanks to my friend who pointed my attention to that area in my life.

As I finished speaking to her on the phone, I realised that it took some extra eye to see the wrong I had been doing  myself. I had to make the adjustments and corrections and of course, that experience taught me the following:

  1. You can’t be all knowing all the time, sometimes, you could just be wrong.
  2. When someone points your attention to something, look inward to know where you should make amends.
  3. Sometimes you need the extra eye to tell you areas of your life you should make the necessary adjustment in your life.
  4. Always be open to learning.
  5. Life is better with true relationships.

In Conclusion

It’s a brand new week, what new areas of your life do you need need to get better at? Then talk to friends around you to help point your attention to them and thereafter, make the necessary amends.

Cheers to a great week ahead!!!
